Production Chef

Vacancy – Production Chef

Posted - 15th September 2021

We have an exciting new opportunity to join our team of expert pie-makers as a Production Chef. This role calls for someone who is super organised, proactive, and a real team player. Production in The Bakery is as you would expect, a well-oiled machine with tried and tested processes. Our perfect Production Chef will slot in with ease and come with the skills needed to react and adapt quickly when demand goes pie high.

Every person at Clive’s is vitally important, but this role really is at the core of the business. You’ll be responsible for making our scrumptious pies, tarts, quiches, and nut roasts, managing recipes, ingredients and ensuring every single product we make is a parcel of pure plant-based joy! You’ll also be helping to guide our fantastic team of kitchen staff, so you should be the kind of worker that prides yourself on your people skills.

A passion for vegan, non-GMO, organic products is a plus, but not essential (either way we’re sure you’ll fall in love with our food!) Relevant experience in food production, manufacturing or catering would be fantastic but rest assured, full training will be provided.

HOURS – Sunday-Thursday 08.00-finish (18.00 ish) YIPPEE, no split shifts!

Pie-oneering qualities we’re looking for:

  • Inspiring leadership skills
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated
  • Self-motivated

Hello, we’re Clive’s. A certified organic, vegan bakery making scrumptious pies, tarts, quiches, and roasts from the heart of the Devon countryside. We’ve been making our delicious parcels of plant-based joy for over 30 years, leading the way when it comes to innovating pie products. Call us pie-oneers if you will!

Some of our newest products, fresh from The Bakery

It all started back in the 1970’s when a Devonshire man called Clive had a moment of spiritual enlightenment. Vouching to do right by all living creatures, he dedicated himself to making amazing veggie pies packed full of plants. From what started as just one pie being sold off the back of a bicycle, we now make and sell a generous range of bakes in shops and supermarkets up and down the country, and even sell internationally. We also recently moved to a shiny new bakery, that’s much bigger, so we can meet the growing demand for our food.

Clive has long since retired, but his original ethos and can-do attitude lives on in all of us. We believe in the positivity of plant-based easting and the benefits it brings to planet welfare. Our vision is for healthier and happier people and planet – a vision that inspires us to make our food the way that we do. By sourcing ingredients from like-minded suppliers, who care just as much about the planet as we do. Creating delicious recipes and flavour combinations, that push the boundaries of traditional plant-based eating, and by always putting the planet first, choosing 100% recyclable, plastic-free packaging for all our products.

We exude POSITIVITY and always act with INTEGRITY and HONESTY to deliver super tasty, QUALITY food that’s made with love. It means our glass is always half full, and we get ridiculously excited about planty food! We never, ever compromise on our principles. We’re totally open when it comes to talking about where we are on our journey towards doing things better, and our whole team is super proud of everything we do and make.

In 2020, after 30 years of baking from an old woollen mill in Buckfastleigh, we relocated to a new, larger home in Dartmouth. Following a total refit, we moved into ‘The Bakery’ where all the pie-making magic now happens, which is nestled in the heart of the Devon countryside and surrounded by rolling hills. We’ve even got a spectacular view of the stunning River Dart, which is right on our doorstep.

Just like the beautifully unique plants that go into our pies, we celebrate diversity here at Clive’s. We believe in equal opportunities for all and pride ourselves on having an inclusive workplace where everyone can be themselves and succeed as part of a welcoming, passionate and hardworking team.

We have grand plans for the future, and to make them a reality we need more brilliant people to join our pie-oneering team! If our values strike a chord with you, and you want to be part of a vibrant, growing and ambitious business – please send us an email (with a copy of your CV if you have one) to
