SOUS CHEF / PRODUCTION CHEF TEAM LEADER

Come make pies with us! We have an exciting new opportunity for a Sous Chef to join our team of expert pie-makers as a Sous Chef / Production Chef Team Leader. This role calls for someone who is super organised, proactive, and a real team player. Production in The Bakery is as you would expect, a well-oiled machine with tried and tested processes. Our perfect Production Chef will slot in with ease and come with the skills needed to react and adapt quickly when demand goes pie high. This position is a Monday – Friday, 8 hour shift.

Every person at Clive’s is vitally important, but this role really is at the core of the business – the kitchen. It’s where all the magic happens. You’ll be responsible for making our scrumptious mixes, managing recipes, ingredients and ensuring every single product we make is a parcel of pure plant-based joy! You’ll support our Production Manager in guiding our fantastic team of kitchen staff, so we’re looking for someone with great people skills and a collaborative way of working.

We are on the lookout for someone who has proven experience working as a chef in a kitchen, catering or food production/manufacturing. Though rest assured we’ll be on hand to get you up to speed with ‘the Clive’s way’. A passion for food is a must, and an interest in vegan, non-GMO, organic products is a plus, but not essential (either way we’re sure you’ll fall in love with our food!)

The role:

As Production Chef Team Leader you will oversee the efficient receipt and storage of raw materials for your areas. Ensuring your team follows the recipe of all products made in line with the company expectation whilst following and completing all HACCP documentation. Working collaboratively with each other you will ensure that your area delivers against timescales and to budget with the Bakery Shift Manager. You will be responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient management of staff and operations throughout the shift. As we’re a small team, you will have 100% responsibility for your area, which will include:

  • Record all daily production paperwork accurately
  • Supporting with production planning to forecast
  • Staff rota management
  • Uphold and implement company standards and policies in all areas (QMS, Food safety, Health & Safety). Identify areas of improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with the team and other support/process department teams.
  • Responsible for ensuring the team are trained and/supervised to company safe operating procedures.
  • Identify areas that can be improved – e.g. efficiency, waste reduction, reduce giveaway, better working methods and process, reduce hours, improve quality, reduce costs, improve working conditions, work safer.
  • To be instrumental in the company culture and long-term vision, embedding our vision, mission and values across everything we do.

The Successful Applicant

• Experience in managing people including leading a team
• 3 years Chef experience
• Have worked in a process FMCG environment
• Can demonstrate a sound understanding of the manufacturing process
• Literacy – clear report writing
• Analytical and problem-solving skills for breakdowns / quality /waste issues
• Understanding of HACCP
• Leads by example – e.g., behaviours, attitude etc – good personal skills
• Flexible
• Experience within bakery process and committed to learning
• Communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Decision making skills

The must haves:
• Super organised, with a keen eye for detail and able to deliver work with a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a track record in developing great working relationships.
• Tech savvy and able to use using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Good team worker with a positive outlook.
• Self-motivated and driver, able to work alone and as part of a team.
• Passionate about great food, with an interest in vegan, vegetarian, organic, clean label and/or gluten free
• A credible personality to champion the brand and inspire people to believe in our cause and try our food.

• Food Hygiene level 2/3

• Forklift licence
• Chef qualification City & Guilds 706/1, 706/2 or NVQ Catering Level 2 & 3

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £24,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
